Typically tropical resorts have special vacation packages that include all meals, drinks, multiple sports, and kid's programs.

With so many tropical vacations available, how do you know which island or resort to choose? There are several considerations you may want to consider when planning this type of vacation. The following is a list of some important considerations parents will want to look at.

What are the programs for the children like? Some are highly creative while others lean heavily on Nintendo games. You will also want to know if the resort offers age-appropriate activities and events. And do some activities cost more?

Some places cater more to young children. Make sure there are enough activities for your teens. It's also important to consider your child's specific likes and dislikes. Some places may not provide what your child enjoys. Also, talk to your kids about what they want to do on vacation. Don't assume you already know.

If you have toddlers or babies there's even more to consider. Is there a wading pool? Is a lifeguard on duty? Is there an on-site doctor or nurse? And, does the resort provide a nursery or babysitting services? You will also want to know what activities, if any, are planned for toddlers. Another consideration here is whether you can rent a kitchenette or at least a room with a fridge or microwave.

Finally, some tropical resorts are more family friendly in that they offer special packages for larger families. Make sure you check what types of offers they have and whether it works for your family size and budget.
